Fex Fellini is one of Germany’s most exciting new house producers. His Kudos To Jack EP, released on Top Billin in September 2010, provided a brilliant startup for his project: techy house tunes with a gypsy vibe, supported by great names like Malente, Act Yo Age, Canblaster, Edu K and Beware & Motorpitch.
The following Cities EP on Globelle shows the amazing development of Fellini’s musical style: bass-driven tech house with tribal elements, even deeper than his previous release. These new productions are an artistic balancing act between jazzy and soulful melodies, sample loops, deep basslines and a cross-genre openness. The EP applies itself to different genres and decades in our music history. „New Orleans“ is a jackin house track that combines jazz samples with a deep atmosphere. In „Mumbai“, sitars, far eastern melodies and techy synths work hand in hand. And just like this beautiful city in Spain, „Barcelona“ is a good example for mediterranean flair, sleaziness and euphoria. Maybe that’s the kind of sound we’re all desiring for 2011. Playful electronic music with cheeky sample cuts, mellow deep sounds and an organic and shuffling percussion.
